Justin Tatum is not impressed by what he is seeing out of the Boston Celtics right now.
Justin, the father of Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum, appeared this week on “The Ultimate Dads Unplugged” podcast. During the appearance, Justin offered a noteworthy criticism of the Celtics.
When asked to predict who would win the 2027 NBA championship, Justin said that the New York Knicks might repeat. Justin was then pressed on why he did not say Boston (his son’s team) and responded by taking a profane shot at their roster.
“Realistically, I might say New York might run it back,” said Justin. “Right now, the [Celtics] roster is s–t.”
The six-time NBA All-Star Jayson, 28, is fully healthy again after missing most of the 2025-26 season while recovering from an Achilles tear. But the Celtics traded away his longtime co-star Jaylen Brown earlier this summer, leaving Jayson to fill out a projected starting five with an aging Paul George and role players Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, and Neemias Queta.
Some recent viral videos of Jayson have not exactly been helping the cause either. Now we can count Jayson’s own father as one of the skeptics of the Celtics heading into the 2026-27 season.
