Jeanie Buss explains what her cryptic tweet was about
Jeanie Buss is finally addressing the most riveting mystery of the summer.
The Los Angeles Lakers president and controlling owner caused a bit of a stir earlier this month with a cryptic tweet seemingly warning the world to “do not ever underestimate.”
Do not ever underestimate

With a huge offseason ahead of the Lakers, many wondered what her tweet was about. Plenty theorized that it might have something to do with the team’s big-name free agent targets. On Tuesday however, Buss finally solved the riddle in an interview with Colton Jones of Amico Hoops. She revealed that the tweet was about [drum roll please] … a pair of leather pants.
“It was very innocent,”said Buss. “I was out to dinner in New York. I was there on NBA business — league business — and I only had a few minutes to change, and luckily I packed a pair of leather pants.
“And I wouldn’t have had time to, like, iron or steam or anything,” she continued. “I put on my leather pants and it’s like a whole new outfit, and I was going to just tweet, ‘Don’t ever underestimate the power of leather pants for traveling because they don’t wrinkle.’ And I started writing it, and then I realized that just the first sentence was a great tweet even just the way it was.”
Hopefully Jeanie doesn’t pull a muscle with how far she is reaching here.
All jokes aside, Buss and the Lakers will definitely have the last laugh if they manage to land some of their preferred targets this offseason (a list that includes LeBron James, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and others). Still though, the explanation for her tweet is probably the least convincing one that we have heard since Eric Bledsoe’s.
