Formers 76ers center makes subtle dig at Joel Embiid
A former Philadelphia 76ers player has generated some buzz for making a joke at Joel Embiid’s expense.
Los Angeles Clippers center Mo Bamba, who played for the Sixers last season, has been dealing with a lingering left knee injury. On Sunday, he made his Clipper debut in a game against the Utah Jazz, which was the first of a back-to-back set.
On Monday morning, Bamba was asked by ClutchPoints reporter Tomer Azarly about his status for back-to-backs and whether he would play against the Golden State Warriors later that evening.
“I am not [Joel Embiid],” said Bamba while chuckling.

Bamba clarified that he does have a minutes restriction but did not reach it during the Clippers’ 116-105 win over the Jazz.
While Bamba’s line was likely a friendly jab at his former teammate, it still reinforced Embiid’s growing reputation as an injury-prone superstar.
Interestingly enough, Embiid was initially listed as doubtful for the 76ers’ Monday game against the Miami Heat due to an illness. But just hours before the game, Embiid was suddenly set to play and start against the Heat.

It’s unclear if Bamba’s joke played any part in the decision. But based on Embiid’s recent altercation with a 76ers reporter, the former MVP clearly pays attention to what is said about him online.
