The Philadelphia 76ers shared some unfortunate news on Joel Embiid Thursday.
The team announced that Embiid will be out indefinitely because he will undergo surgery to repair an orbital fracture. They also said that Embiid does have a concussion.

The Sixers say that though Embiid was tested for a concussion after his collision with teammate Markelle Fultz on Wednesday and did not show immediate symptoms, he later showed symptoms, leading to the concussion diagnosis. A CT scan also revealed the orbital fracture.
Philly was rolling with an 8-game winning streak prior to the injury news on Embiid. On top of that, they had just gotten Fultz back.
But if there’s anything positive, it’s that ESPN’s Zach Lowe says Embiid could return in 2-4 weeks, which would put his status for the first round of the playoffs in jeopardy.
