Joel Embiid during a game

Joel Embiid made his feelings clear about Thursday’s Ben Simmons trade by posting a savage meme to Twitter after the news came out. Or perhaps he was just posting a picture he liked.

After Friday’s win over Oklahoma City, Embiid was asked about the tweet he sent Thursday after the Sixers traded Simmons for James Harden, which clearly conveyed Embiid’s happiness at seeing Simmons go. Embiid wouldn’t acknowledge the meme or its meaning, though. Instead, he gave the hilarious explanation that he’d simply seen a picture of a guy with swag that he wanted to share with his followers.

Joel Embiid just now: “I don’t even know what the tweet is about… I just tweeted a random person… I just thought it was a picture on the internet… he had a nice suit on… good-looking… he had some swag, so I thought it was a good picture.” https://t.co/P6wVew9R3M

The guy’s display name says “Troel Embiid” for a reason, folks.

Embiid has been far less subtle about his feelings toward Simmons in the past. The star center made it perfectly clear he wanted to see Simmons either play or leave for good. Now that the latter has happened, he can express his happiness — apparently by posting pictures of cool-looking guys on social media.
