This is a pretty big surprise, as Beilein hasn’t been linked to NBA jobs at all. He also turns 66 in February. He’s been extremely successful at Michigan, having just led last year’s team to the national title game, and is regarded as one of the college game’s better teachers. It would have wide repercussions for the Wolverine program if he were to leave.
Ultimately, the Pistons may opt for a candidate with more NBA experience, but Beilein is certainly an interesting name to watch in this search.
