JR Smith prematurely celebrates half-court airball (Video)
Sometimes, heaves from near midcourt go in. Often, they don’t. During Game 1 of the first round series between the Cavaliers and Pacers, J.R. Smith was really sure his was going to be good.
With less than three seconds remaining in the third quarter, Smith received a pass from Richard Jefferson and dribbled up the floor. Before reaching midcourt, Smith launched a shot off of one foot in the general direction of the basket at the opposite end of the floor. He then proceeded to break into a celebration, only to see the ball fall harmlessly out of bounds. Here’s video:

If there’s one thing we know about J.R. Smith, it’s that he’s not lacking in the confidence department. That even includes shots that, as Mike Breen can be heard saying in video, are “way off.”
Either way, Smith is the latest to join the Nick Young club.
