Julius Randle becomes latest player to get paid by Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are committed to keeping their current core together, and Julius Randle is the latest beneficiary of that.

Randle will decline his player option for the 2025-26 season and sign a new 3-year, $100 million deal with the Timberwolves, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The third year on the new contract is a player option.

Randle’s player option for next season was worth just over $30 million, so he is getting a slight raise with the new deal.

The agreement between Randle and the Timberwolves comes two days after the team signed center Naz Reid to a new 5-year, $125 million. Minnesota also has Rudy Gobert under contract for two more seasons with a player option for a third at more than $30 million per year.

Randle, a three-time All-Star, was traded to the Timberwolves last October as part of the blockbuster Karl-Anthony Towns deal. He averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists across 69 games in his first season with Minnesota.

The Timberwolves made a deep playoff run this year and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. They clearly feel they have the right pieces in place around Anthony Edwards.
