Kevin Durant has played at an elite level through the early part of the NBA season, but the Phoenix Suns star will now be sidelined for multiple games.
Durant suffered a calf injury during the Suns’ 114-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Saturday that Durant will be out for at least two weeks.

The Suns are off to an 8-1 start, and Durant has played a huge role in the success. The two-time NBA Finals MVP is averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Durant played 38.8 minutes per game through Phoenix’s first nine contests, which is the most playing time he has had since the 2010-11 season.
Durant has a history with calf issues, so the Suns will likely be very cautious. The 36-year-old most recently battled a calf injury ahead of the Summer Olympics in Paris, though he still played at a high level and helped Team USA win a gold medal.
The Suns host the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, but Durant will be on the bench for that game and beyond.
