Kevin Durant gave Oklahoma City fans a taste of their own medicine during Tuesday’s season opener.
Durant and the Houston Rockets were in town to face the Thunder for the first game of the NBA season at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The game also featured the raising of the Thunder championship banner for the 2024-25 NBA season.
In the lead-up to the contest, Durant took the floor to warm up and shoot around. Predictably, Durant got loudly booed by the OKC crowd.
As a result, Durant decided to return the favor. Television cameras caught the former NBA MVP booing the Thunder fans right back. Here is the video.

Even at 37 years old, Durant still has no love for OKC. He started his career with their franchise (dating back to when they were still the Seattle SuperSonics) and brought them an NBA Finals berth in 2012 as well as an MVP award in 2014.
But Durant infamously left the Thunder to sign with the hated rival Golden State Warriors as a free agent in 2016, ultimately winning two championships with them. OKC fans have since treated Durant harshly, and the 15-time All-Star later ripped the city, saying that he would never be attached to them again.
Durant did post a notable message of congrats after the Thunder won the title last June. But on Tuesday, Durant seemed to channel the boos into motivation, finishing with a team-high 14 points on 6/11 shooting in the first half.
