Kevin Garnett reportedly set to retire
Kevin Garnett’s dazzling 21-year NBA career is reportedly coming to an end.
According to Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune, the NBA icon has reached a buyout agreement with the Timberwolves, and an announcement of his retirement is imminent.
Garnett had one year remaining on his contract and was due to make about $8 million in 2016-17.
It was only a matter of time for this to happen. The Timberwolves are due to open training camp next Tuesday and needed a decision by then. We heard that the buyout was getting close, and there was no way that Garnett was ever going to play for another team. His knees are problematic and he was bound to retire with Minnesota having been his final stop. The 40-year-old is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
