Report: Kings will interview Mike Woodson for head coaching position
The Sacramento Kings will reportedly interview former Hawks and Knicks coach Mike Woodson for their vacant head coaching position.
Woodson, currently an assistant with the Clippers, is set to meet with the Kings in the coming days, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical. Sacramento also wants to speak to former Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro. Kevin McHale is also on the Kings’ radar, but it is unclear whether he has any interest in the job.
If this list appears rather uninspiring, well, it’s because it is. The Kings job isn’t attractive to high-profile candidates due to organizational instability, so they’re going to have to take what they can get, hence why the likes of McHale may not be interested.
The new Kings coach will be charged with trying to get along with DeMarcus Cousins and calm a rather unstable situation. Given the issues Woodson had with some of his players toward the end of his time in New York, well, good luck with that.
