Report: Kings ‘strongly weighing’ firing George Karl
George Karl’s time may be running out in Sacramento.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports’s The Vertical, team owner Vivek Ranadive and general manager Vlade Divac were so livid over Friday night’s blowout loss to Brooklyn that they strongly considered axing Karl, with one source calling it “an overreaction to the loss.”
Karl seems to have survived for now, but sources say he has lost the support of management and some of the locker room.
The team’s star player, DeMarcus Cousins, seemed to indicate that not all was well in the dressing room in his comments to reporters after the game.
DeMarcus Cousins: “We have a bigger issue (than energy and effort) and we need to figure it out. … I’d rather keep it in house.”

Kings TV analyst Bobby Jackson was much less reserved in his remarks.
“I think i could come off this set and do a much better coaching job right now.” – @TheBobbyJackson NOT holding back on George Karl

No matter how you slice it, it seems that Karl is not long for Sacramento. This isn’t the first time this season that Karl’s job has reportedly been in immediate danger, but he managed to smooth things out and survive the first wave of rumors. He may not be so lucky this time, and Ranadive may target a big name college coach to replace him.
