Stephen Curry is the best shooter in the NBA today, and possibly the best the league has ever seen. Because of that, it’s understandable when Curry looks like he’s going to take a wide open shot his teammates assume it’s going to go in. However, the ball can’t go through the hoop if Curry doesn’t actually shoot. That’s what happened on Friday.
Late in the second quarter against the Mavericks, Curry received a pass from Draymond Green which set him up for a wide open three-pointer. More often than not, you would expect Curry to take (and make) that shot. This time, he did not. After initially looking like he was going to shoot, Curry decided at the last minute to pass to Klay Thompson. Thinking Curry was going to shoot, Thompson had already turned to celebrate the presumed made basket and was not ready for Curry’s pass.

The Warriors are a team of willing passers, as their leading the NBA in assists shows. In this case, Curry and Thompson had weren’t on the same page, providing us with this fantastic moment that shows what happens when your teammates have supreme confidence in you.
