Report: Knicks eyeing Malik Monk as potential trade target

Malik Monk

The New York Knicks may be busy now that trade deadline week has arrived.

Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reported on Sunday that the Knicks see Charlotte Hornets guard Malik Monk as a potential trade target.

Monk, the former No. 11 overall pick, does not get much press these days but has brought decent production to the Charlotte rotation, averaging 9.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists a game in 47 appearances. He is also still just 21.

Interestingly, Monk has said that he thought the Knicks would draft him, only for them to select fellow guard Frank Ntilikina ahead of him in 2017 instead. With the Feb. 6 deadline looming, he may find himself on the Knicks after all.
