Trae Young is still a hated man in Gotham.
New York Knicks fans made sure to let Young know how they feel about him during a game he wasn’t even a part of, as vulgar chants targeted at the Washington Wizards guard reverberated late in Saturday’s game between New York and the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.

“F*ck Trae Young”
Absolutely un-needed stray 😭 pic.twitter.com/4XtRCFGhcu
Young was traded by the Hawks to the Wizards in January, apparently taking his villainous aura with him in the eyes of Knicks supporters. It’s clear that, regardless of where Young’s career takes him, he will always be the Joker to New York’s Batman. He even caught a stray from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday, who blamed him for the high cost of MSG tickets for playoff games.
In a way, this has become some sort of Knicks’ version of the “Dennis Potvin sucks” chants by New York Rangers fans, but it remains to be seen whether this will have the same longevity.
Either way, there’s a good chance it’s not the last time we’ll hear such chants from the New York crowd in the series, with Game 2 of the Hawks-Knicks series scheduled to take place at the Garden on Monday.
