The New York Knicks could reportedly get the attention of Kevin Durant by hiring Scott Brooks as coach, according to a report.
According to ESPN’s Ian Begley citing league sources, the Knicks have been told that hiring former Thunder coach Brooks would boost the team’s chances of getting Durant. Those chances took a hit when Derek Fisher was fired, though, and the team is likely a longshot either way.

Of course, Brooks isn’t a proponent of the triangle offense, but team president Phil Jackson hinted in a Twitter post on Tuesday that the team may consider coaches who don’t subscribe to it.

The Warriors are reportedly the frontrunner for Durant’s services should he depart Oklahoma City in free agency, and it’s doubtful that Jackson will be hiring a coach that he doesn’t even know just to give the Knicks’ low chances of landing Durant a small and likely meaningless boost.
