A former NBA champion might possibly be joining the current NBA champions.
The New York Knicks could be a “realistic” option for free agent swingman Bruce Brown, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported this week. Brown remains unsigned after spending last season with the Denver Nuggets.
A 30-year-old former second-round draft pick, Brown appeared in all 82 games for the Nuggets last year, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He was also previously a member of Denver’s 2023 NBA championship team.
As for the Knicks, they are looking to upgrade around the fringes after winning their NBA championship since 1973. New York also has some roster spots to play around with after losing Mitchell Robinson, Ariel Hukporti, and Jeremy Sochan in free agency but only signing Andre Drummond as a replacement.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Brown could potentially end up with the Los Angeles Lakers instead. But Siegel also noted in his report that he would “cast doubt” on the possibility of Brown heading to L.A.
The Knicks were also eyeing an interesting former All-Star with one of their openings before that player ended up signing elsewhere. Now it appears that Brown could potentially be in line for some serious consideration from the reigning champions.
