Knicks will reportedly host Ja Morant for a workout

Ja Morant

The New York Knicks are in all likelihood not going to get a shot at drafting Ja Morant with the third overall pick, but they are doing their due diligence just in case.

SNY’s Ian Begley reports that the Knicks are expected to host Morant for a pre-draft workout this week.

The only way Morant would be available for the Knicks at No. 3 is if the Memphis Grizzlies took Duke’s RJ Barrett second overall, but that would be a major upset. Even Barrett seems to know that is not going to happen, as he is not going to bother meeting with any team other than the Knicks.

Morant was not heavily recruited coming out of high school, which is why he ended up at Murray State. He had a successful freshman season but emerged as a full-blown superstar as a sophomore last year, averaging 24.5 points, 10.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He’s easily the best point guard in the country.
