Kobe Bryant’s prom date Brandy was courtside for Lakers game
Grammy Award-winning artist Brandy attended Tuesday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies. Seeing the R&B singer was probably a blast from the past for some, but imagine how Kobe Bryant must have felt.
Roughly 20 years ago, Kobe took Brandy to his high school prom.

Bryant and Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, are the same age. Norwood was already a singer and television star at the time, but she wanted to experience prom.
“I thought he was cute,” Brandy said back in 1996, via an old article from the Philadelphia Daily News. “I read about him after I met him. And then I saw he was going somewhere in life and I thought I would love to go to the prom with him.”

Hopefully the 17-year-old Bryant was a lot different from the grumpy old man he has become now. If not, Brandy probably hasn’t spoken with him since 1996.
