There is a frontrunner for the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach job, according to one reporter.

The Lakers are set to begin their search for a new head coach following the firing of Darvin Ham. Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer is off the board after being hired by the Phoenix Suns.

A report published on Tuesday listed three people the Lakers are strongly considering for the job.

In a video he posted to YouTube on Tuesday as a follow-up to his report, The Athletic’s Jovan Buha stated that he believes Redick is the current frontrunner.

“I still think [Redick] is the slight favorite among the candidate pool,” Buha said.

Though Redick does not have any coaching experience, he played in the NBA for 14 seasons from 2006-2021. The 39-year-old currently serves as an analyst for ESPN. He interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets job and has been considered for other previous vacancies.

Heavily weighing in Redick’s favor is that he recently launched a podcast with LeBron James, who will likely have a role in approving the Lakers’ next head coach.
