Lakers reportedly planning to start LeBron James at point guard
The Los Angeles Lakers have made some big changes this offseason after a disappointing year, and they are planning to hand the reins to LeBron James in hopes of turning things around.
Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that the Lakers intend to start LeBron at point guard next season. Danny Green will likely start at the other guard spot, which means Rajon Rondo will be used off the bench.
LeBron has operated as a point-forward throughout most of his career, and he is more than comfortable facilitating an offense and playing on the ball. He has made very few starts at point guard, but the Lakers obviously feel having him start at the one will allow them to get the most out of their roster. The original plan was to have Kawhi Leonard in the fold, but that did not work out.
Obviously, things could change throughout the offseason. But as of now, having LeBron run the offense with Anthony Davis underneath sounds pretty appealing.
