Add a heightened level of self-awareness to the seemingly endless list of assets that Lance Stephenson can bring to the table for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2015-16 season.
The tempestuous guard felt compelled on Saturday to respond to all of his presumed critics who may think that he’s “trash” by emphatically affirming the opposite. And he did so in the most Lance Stephenson way possible, tweeting out an old highlight reel of his from his time on the Indiana Pacers with the accompanying inscription in all caps, “THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO SAYS LANCE IS TRASH.”

Lance Stephenson refers to himself in the third person now, and Lance Stephenson wants you to know that he most certainly is not, in fact, a hot pile of garbage.
While sending out a highlight reel from two years ago might not seem like the best way to do that, I’m not here to judge the Lance. I’m only here to become one with the Lance.
It remains to be seen if a bench role on the Clippers will be able to conclusively prove Stephenson’s anti-trash hypothesis and allow him to flourish like the star he thinks he is. But whatever the case may be, with the NBA season only a matter of hours away now, I’m ready for Born Ready.
