LeBron James no longer doing chalk toss
Before their current three-game win streak, the Cleveland Cavaliers were off to a 5-7 start with their revamped roster. Apparently the Cavs had played poorly enough to inspire LeBron James to switch up his pregame routine.
According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, LeBron has stopped doing his famous chalk toss before games. He has also started shooting around with teammates about an hour before games.
Has it worked? The Cavs have won all three of their games since LeBron gave up the chalk toss.
Not only did the Cavaliers win all three games, but James averaged 25.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 2.3 steals.
The week before, it was 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in four losses.
LeBron hadn’t done the chalk toss for about two years prior to returning to Cleveland, and he said before the season that he was pumped to bring it back. The Cavs also made it a huge part of their awesome intro before LeBron’s first game back.
As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures. Cleveland’s recent win streak probably has nothing to do with whether LeBron tosses powder in the air or not, but don’t expect to see the chalk toss again anytime soon.
