LeBron James is dismissing any concerns about his much-publicized helicopter rides.
The Philadelphia 76ers star James spoke with the media after Friday’s preseason game against the Boston Celtics. During the session, James made his first public comments about his use of a private helicopter to fly to and from Philadelphia.
“Yeah, I’ve done it before,” James said, per Tony Jones of The Athletic. “Just another, just another way of transportation. That’s all.”
James is in his first season with the 76ers after signing with them over the summer as an unrestricted free agent. Notably, James will be living in New York rather than in Philadelphia during the season and will simply take helicopter trips back and forth.
The 41-year-old James has also sparked criticism over the circumstances surrounding his helicopter rides. James is receiving the chopper trips (which carry significant monetary and environmental costs) completely for free as part of his partnership with Fanatics.
Earlier this week, we learned that investigate journalist Pablo Torre was planning to look into James over his use of helicopters (which have been spotted with Fanatics logos emblazoned on the side). But the 22-time All-Star James is insisting that this is all much ado about nothing.
