LiAngelo Ball has frequently been linked to the Lakers because his brother plays there and his father insists all three of his sons will eventually be teammates in L.A., and the middle of the three ball boys still envisions himself wearing purple and gold.
In a brief chat with TMZ recently, Ball was asked about his father LaVar still being hopeful that LiAngelo will end up on the Lakers’ roster. LiAngelo expressed confidence that it will happen.
“Yeah, I will,” he said. “Probably later. I think I will.”
For what it’s worth, Ball said he has been “just working out” and indicated that no NBA teams have called him about joining them for the Summer League. That likely means he is a long way from being considered for any NBA roster, let alone the Lakers.
There have been some reports that indicate LiAngelo simply isn’t a good enough player for the Lakers to invite to their summer camp, while others claim LaVar is a factor. Whatever the case, the Ball family seems intent on willing LiAngelo to the Lakers. After all, LaVar was right when he said the Lakers would draft Lonzo and sign LeBron James. Why should we doubt him now?
