Lonzo Ball takes shots at Nuggets’ Murray after loss

Lonzo Ball is stepping up his game from Big Baller Brand to Big Baller Beef.

After the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, the rookie guard took some shots at Nuggets counterpart Jamal Murray. Ball referenced a play during their last meeting in December where Murray dribbled around him at the end of the game, calling it a “punk move.” He also mentioned Murray’s “circus stuff” during this latest meeting, per Bill Oram of the Southern California News Group.

Lonzo Ball said Jamal Murray dribbling around him at end of last meeting was a “punk move.” He wouldn’t feed much into tonight’s developments but did reference Murray’s “circus stuff.”

For context, Murray, who led Denver with 22 points and eight assists, seemed to irk the Lakers on Friday with his trash talk and various other taunts. Head coach Luke Walton even hurled a few expletives Murray’s way as the game ended and called him out by name during the postgame media session.

Luke Walton calls out Jamal Murray by name — says this is second time Murray has been “disrespectful” at the end of game. Last time: dribbling around Lonzo. Tonight: trash talk.

Here is the original play where Murray dribbled around Ball in December:

The two players are only separated in age by a few months, so there very well may be a rivalry brewing here. Fortunately for us, the Nuggets and the Lakers will be playing each other again in just a matter of days on Mar. 13, and this is already looking like a much more legit feud than Ball’s most recent one.
