The San Antonio Spurs may not have to say goodbye to the last remaining member of the original Big Three just yet.
Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News reported Saturday that veteran guard Manu Ginobili is expected to announce his return for the 2018-19 season, possibly within the next few days.
Per Finger:
Soon, perhaps in the next few days, Ginobili will post a message on the Internet announcing his intentions for next season, and it will be a surprise if those intentions do not include continuing to allow Gregg Popovich to fulfill his vow to squeeze every last drop out of him like a tube of toothpaste.
The 41-year-old Ginobili, who is under contract for $2.5 million next season, proved that he was still able to produce in 2017-18. He appeared in 65 games and averaged 8.9 points and 2.5 assists in a mere 20.0 minutes a night.
While Ginobili is the second-oldest active NBA player right now (behind Vince Carter), the city of San Antonio would obviously love to have him back. Just a few months ago, we saw an awesome billboard urging Ginobili to return.
