Marc Gasol says he is happy, committed to Grizzlies

Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol caused a bit of a brouhaha this summer with some perceived unhappiness in Memphis, but now he is setting the record straight.

Gasol said on Tuesday that he is happy and committed to the Grizzlies despite any recent suggestions to the contrary, per Mike Ceide of WREG-TV.

The former Defensive Player of the Year raised some eyebrows last month by hinting that he may be open to leaving Memphis. He also appeared to throw some subtle shade at the Grizzlies with some comments he made about the Spanish National Team just a couple of weeks after that.

Gasol has a right to be frustrated — Grit-N-Grind mainstays Zach Randolph and Tony Allen left this summer, and Memphis is in grave danger of fading into obscurity in the reloaded West, a problem if the 32-year-old Gasol wants to win his first ring. Fortunately for Grizzlies fans though, it sounds like the three-time All-Star big man remains as committed to them as he’s ever been.
