Report: Mario Chalmers nearing return, several teams interested
All of your prayers may soon be answered, NBA teams.
According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, two-time champion Mario Chalmers is progressing in his rehab from Achilles surgery last March and is about a month away from being ready with several teams said to be interested.
Chalmers, 30, averaged 10.3 points per game and 3.8 assists per game in 61 appearances combined between the Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2015-16 before getting hurt late in the season. He went unsigned through the summer, mostly due to his injury.
Players coming back from Achilles tears are always a wild card, and Chalmers happens to play the deepest position in the league. But nevertheless, the eight-year veteran remains a strong option as a backup point guard, and a team in need of three-point shooting, playmaking, and tight on-ball defense from a bench player could certainly do worse than giving Super Mario a call.
