Mark Stevens banned, fined by NBA for Kyle Lowry incident

Mark Stevens

The NBA has officially announced its discipline for Golden State Warriors investor Mark Stevens.

The league announced on Thursday that Stevens has been banned from NBA games for a year and fined $500,000 for his conduct during Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday. His ban also includes Warriors team activities.

Stevens pushed Kyle Lowry after the Toronto Raptors guard dived into the stands going after a loose ball. He also used some vulgar language against Lowry.

Lowry emerged from the incident enraged and told officials that the fan had pushed him. He composed himself, did not retaliate, and was able to get his head back into the game and help lead his team to victory in Game 3.

The matter became the key talking point in the day after the game, leading the NBA and Warriors to act swiftly with discipline to put an end to things. A previous report said Stevens would likely be forced to sell his share of the team. It’s unclear whether that is still the case in light of the discipline announced by the league.
