Matt Barnes has done battle with LeBron James at the small forward spot for many years. But he respects The King’s greatness and thinks you should too.
In an appearance Monday on FOX Sports 1’s “Undisputed,” Barnes gave his thoughts on James’ various haters on social media and elsewhere.
“I think people get caught up so much in hating on him instead of sitting back and realizing you’re witnessing history,” said the 37-year-old veteran. “We live in a world where it’s OK to hate. We give people without a voice, on social media, a voice and a platform to express their opinion.”
James, whose Cleveland Cavaliers lost in five games to Barnes and the Golden State Warriors in this year’s NBA Finals, could very well be the most scrutinized star in NBA history. But at least his peers seem to carry a deep sense of respect and admiration for him, even if they don’t always show it.
