The Memphis Grizzlies have been absolutely abysmal in the first two games of their playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs. If you want to know how poorly they have played, just ask Matt Barnes.
After the Grizzlies scored a franchise-low 68 points in their Game 2 loss Tuesday night, Barnes delivered a fantastic quote.
“I think just have to roll the dice a little bit,” he said of his team’s chances going forward, via Bradford Doolittle of ESPN.com. “We’ve got to play small, we’ve got to play fast. We’ve got to do something. We’re coming to a gunfight with some spoons.”
Well said, Matt.
In Game 1, the Grizzlies lost by a score of 106-74. That was their worst playoff loss in franchise history. Hardly anyone believes they have a chance of pushing the series to five or six games, let alone coming back.
We know Barnes has a great sense of humor as evidenced by the recent Derek Fisher meme he shared, but we doubt Grizzlies fans find their team’s start to the series to be entertaining in any way.
