Matthew Dellavedova gets his own signature shoe deal
Matthew Dellavedova is getting his own signature shoe deal and, no, this is not a joke.
The Cleveland Cavaliers reserve guard signed a three-year deal with Chinese footwear and apparel company, PEAK, the company announced. The timing of the announcement comes just as Dellavedova is getting set to play in his second straight NBA Finals.
Dellavedova commented on the deal in a statement, saying things had been in the works for a few years.
“PEAK Australia approached me nearly two years ago with the idea of introducing a basketball shoe into the Australian market” Dellavedova said. “From there, talks became more serious in the past year and PEAK worked hard on developing a shoe that offers the type of reliability and performance that drives me every day. It’s pretty special. I can’t wait to unveil them for the first time later this year.”
Dellavedova’s signature shoe will be called the “Delly 1.” It is a low-cut shoe that the Australian native had a role in creating. PEAK also outfits Australia’s national basketball team, of which Dellavedova is a member, making this endorsement deal a natural fit.
The shoe and other clothing from Delly’s line is expected to be available in July.
Now in his third season in the NBA, Dellavedova became somewhat famous during last year’s finals after seeing extra minutes following Kyrie Irving’s injury and playing well.
