Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has torn labrum, out indefinitely
The luck of Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is about as rotten as the lead singer of the Sex Pistols.
On Thursday, the team announced that an MRI on Kidd-Gilchrist revealed a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He will be re-evaluted after the All-Star break, and there is otherwise no timetable for his return.

Kidd-Gilchrist suffered the injury in Wednesday’s 117-95 victory over Indiana when Pacers center Ian Mahinmi fell on his shoulder in a fight for a loose ball. Here is video of the play:
Unfortunately, this is a case of lightning striking the same place twice as Kidd-Gilchrist already suffered a torn labrum in the same shoulder in a preseason game last October, costing him the first 46 games of this regular season.
The former No. 2 overall pick had just made his season debut in late January, but now it looks like his year is finished. If that is indeed the case, Kidd-Gilchrist concludes the 2015-16 campaign with averages of 12.7 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game in just seven games played.
It’s a major damper for the Hornets, who had won five of those seven games since Kidd-Gilchrist came back. They had quietly been putting together a dark horse campaign out East, where they currently hold the eighth seed with a 27-26 record. Kidd-Gilchrist’s return was really rejuvenating the team, especially on the defensive end, but now Charlotte will just have to make due with their remaining scrapheap of uninspiring forwards (Nic Batum notwithstanding).
