Michael Porter Jr. poised for redshirt year with Nuggets?
Michael Porter Jr. may take a “redshirt year” with the Denver Nuggets as he continues to work on his health.
NBA writer Matt Moore believes based on the words of Nuggets president Tim Connelly that Porter, who missed virtually all of last season with a back injury, will not play during his rookie season as Denver tries to look out for his long-term future.
I would not expect Michael Porter Jr. to play this season. It’s early in the process, but just based on what I’ve heard and how much Nuggets President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly stressed patience, I don’t think he’ll play. Redshirt year.

It’s quite clear that teams have major concerns about Porter’s health. Despite being one of the best talents in the draft, he fell to No. 14, which became one of the biggest stories of the night. Obviously this is simply reading tea leaves and it could easily turn out not to be the case, but if this is even a consideration for the Nuggets, one has to believe that the back is a major concern.
