Report: Many NBA executives believe Andre Iguodala will be traded to Lakers
Andre Iguodala’s status remains unresolved, with the veteran swingman currently sitting out games for the Memphis Grizzlies as he awaits a trade. When this trade will happen is unclear, but there seems to be a growing consensus regarding who will land him.
David Aldridge of The Athletic asked several executives about Iguodala, and all who answered agreed that the former Finals MVP’s ultimate destination is likely the Los Angeles Lakers. One suggested that the Lakers offer Iguodala the “best combination of ring chance and role.”
The notion that Iguodala is likely to land with the Lakers is so strong that there is a belief in league circles that it could dissuade other teams from engaging in trade dialogue with Memphis.
Iguodala remains a useful player. He played in 68 games for the Warriors last year as a valuable reserve, and he played a full 30 minutes per game in the 2019 playoffs. Multiple teams reportedly wanted him, including the Lakers’ city rivals, but they may fall short here.
