Ex-NBA guard ejected from finals game in Europe for obscene gesture at fan

One former NBA player was ejected from a game in Europe this week for pulling an Anthony Edwards.

Ex-NBA guard Evan Fournier got tossed from Friday’s Greek Basketball League (GBL) finals game against Panathinaikos. Fournier now plays for Olympiacos in Greece, and the two teams are currently playing in a best-of-five finals series to determine the league winner for the 2024-25 season.

During the fourth quarter of the game at Greece’s OAKA Basketball Arena (home of Panathinaikos), Fournier was shown on the broadcast making an obscene gesture towards a fan sitting courtside. Fournier did the gesture three separate times (take a look at the clip below).

Fournier had already been whistled for an unsportsmanlike foul earlier in the game and was hit with a technical foul for the obscene gesture, resulting in an automatic ejection.

BasketNews reports that the fan responded by throwing an advertising board on the court, causing a brief delay in the game (which you can see in the lower part of the video above). Fournier was not the only one who got ejected from Friday’s game either as Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman and guard Kendrick Nunn were thrown out later in the contest due to separate incidents.

Olympiacos still managed to win the game 99-88, and they now hold a 2-1 series advantage heading into Sunday’s potential close-out Game 4. As for Fournier, 32, he played in the NBA from 2012-24, most recently in a 29-game stint for the Detroit Pistons at the end of the 2023-24 season. Fournier has always been a bit abrasive on the court and was also ejected from an international friendly last year for choking an opponent.
