NBA investigating Rockets owner’s incident with referee
The Houston Rockets defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in their first-round playoff series, but now their next opponent may be the league office.
The NBA said that an investigation “is underway” into the Game 5 incident on Tuesday where Rockets owner Leslie Alexander left his courtside seat during the live action and approached referee Bill Kennedy to complain about a no-call, per Reid Laymance and Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle.
You can see video of the incident, which occurred in the closing seconds of the first quarter, here.
The Rockets ultimately won 105-99 to take the series 4-1 and advance to the second round. But it wouldn’t be surprising to see Alexander face a fine or some other punishment from the league for the episode.
