Rajon Rondo did his best to lead the Boston Celtics against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and one elbow to the face of Lance Stephenson. It was all for none, as the Celtics lost 96-87.
But you’re probably still wondering about that elbow.
As the Hornets were bringing the ball up the floor in the third quarter, Rondo blatantly tossed an elbow to Stephenson’s face while Lance was basically just jogging by and minding his own business.

It was completely uncalled for, though Rondo felt Stephenson embellished a bit.
Rondo on elbow to Stephenson: "He weighs about 60 more pounds than me. I don't think I was that strong on that play to knock him down."

Stephenson apparently responded a short time after with a “subtle punch to the face” and both players were assessed technical fouls.
While Stephenson did bring us one of the most epic flops of the season last month, I don’t blame him even if he did sell the elbow a bit. That was a cheap shot from Rondo.
