Rex Chapman allegedly stealing Apple products caught on video
Former NBA player and Kentucky star Rex Chapman was arrested last week and charged with nine counts of organized retail theft and five counts of trafficking in stolen property after he reportedly stole $14,000 worth of goods from an Apple store. A video that surfaced this week allegedly shows Chapman in action.
The footage, which was passed along by Deadspin, shows a man who is believed to be Chapman coming and going from an Apple store in Scottsdale. He dressed in different clothing during each visit, pretended like he was going through self checkout and never paid for the items. Chapman allegedly sold the items for cash at a local pawn shop.
Chapman is a former No. 8 overall NBA draft pick who made just over $22 million during his playing career. He attempted to stay relevant in April when he spread a bogus rumor about John Calipari leaving Kentucky to coach the Lakers. While that was an embarrassing look for Chapman, this is far worse.
