Rockets owner promises they will kick Warriors’ a– at some point
Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta is not fazed by his team’s continued losing to the Golden State Warriors.
Fertitta spoke with reporters after his Rockets lost 118-113 in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals series on Friday night to get eliminated from the postseason. Despite seeing the season come to an end, he was upbeat and positive about the future.
“They showed why they’re the champions. We’re gonna learn from it. We’re gonna come back next year, and we’re gonna kick their a– at some point, I can promise you that,” Fertitta said, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
Many people will laugh at that comment considering the Rockets have been eliminated by the Warriors three times in the last four seasons. Even without Kevin Durant, who could leave in free agency, Houston still couldn’t beat Golden State. The Rockets are getting older and more expensive. The challenge for beating the Warriors is not exactly getting easy.
But I guess Fertitta’s comments were open-ended enough where he could be right: at some point in the future, the Rockets will eliminate Golden State. If that’s in 5, 10, 20 years, Fertitta will be proven right eventually.
