Rudy Gobert’s ex-girlfriend Julia Bonilla shared an emotional message on social media Wednesday, and it is one that appeared to be aimed in part at the Minnesota Timberwolves star.
Gobert and Bonilla have a 1-year-old son together, and Bonilla is pregnant with the former couple’s second child. She showed off her baby bump in a photo on Instagram Wednesday and wrote a lengthy caption that included a message about betrayal.
“You were wanted. You were chosen,” Bonilla wrote. “You were meant to be.
“I was tested in every way a woman can be tested and still, I chose love. You are proof that even after betrayal, after storms, after pain, life can still grow in light. No matter how dark the world tries to be, no matter the lies, the cowardice, no matter how much they tried to break me, you’ll always have a mother who stands unshaken and will protect you forever.
“Because at the end, it’s always gonna be us, you, your brother, and me.
In May, there was a report that Gobert and Bonilla had broken up just before the start of the NBA playoffs. Gobert is said to have told Bonilla to move out of the house with his and Bonilla’s son. Bonilla, who like Gobert is from France, was pregnant at the time and reportedly wanted to return to her home country. Gobert reportedly wanted her to remain in the United States so the two could figure out a custody arrangement.
Bonilla issued a statement addressing the situation after the report surfaced. She seemingly responded to some rumors about why she and Gobert broke up as well.
Gobert confirmed that he and Bonilla had split but said there was “inaccurate information” being spread about the situation.
Gobert signed a three-year, $110 million extension with Minnesota last year that will kick in starting this season. The former Defensive Player of the Year just finished his third season with the team and averaged 12.0 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
