Russell Westbrook taking break from social media amid struggles?

Russell Westbrook warming up

Russell Westbrook’s DMs appear to be going straight to voicemail right now.

Westbrook’s wife Nina posted a silhouette of him to Instagram this weekend and wrote in her caption that the Los Angeles Lakers guard “won’t see this because he’s on hiatus from socials.”

It is somewhat common for NBA players to take a break from social media come playoff time. But Westbrook appears to be going dark with several weeks left in the regular season.

We know that the former MVP has taken a lot of criticism this year, as many have pinned the Lakers’ disapppointing 27-32 campaign on him. Westbrook has even found himself getting booed by the team’s own fans.

Fortunately, LeBron James and his alleged issues with the Lakers have been taking most of the attention away from Westbrook lately. If Westbrook can lock in and put together a strong second half of the season, the social media breather might end up being a smart move.
