Russell Westbrook remains a free agent with training camp looming, but he seems pretty relaxed about the situation.
In an interview with CNN, Westbrook was asked how he is thinking about his free agency at this stage of the offseason. The veteran guard’s answer was, effectively, that he isn’t.
“I don’t, honestly,” Westbrook said. “I love playing basketball. If it happens, it works, and that’s my plan.”

That does not do much to clear up Westbrook’s future. After spending last season with the Sacramento Kings, there have been some unflattering remarks about Westbrook this summer to go along with what seems to be a real lack of interest from teams. He has been linked to a few landing spots recently, but at this point he might have to settle for a minimum contract if he wants to play a 19th NBA season.
Westbrook averaged 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game for the Kings last season. He turns 38 in November.
