Scott Brooks explains why Kelly Oubre retaliated against Kelly Olynyk

Scott Brooks

Scott Brooks didn’t disagree with the officials’ decision to eject Kelly Oubre Jr. from Game 3 of the Wizards-Celtics series on Thursday, but he certainly understands Oubre’s behavior.

After his Wizards beat the Celtics 116-89 to make it a 2-1 series in favor of Boston, Brooks was asked about the Oubre-Olynyk incident that resulted in Oubre’s ejection.

“I think we’ve got to control our emotions. You can’t respond that way. But when you get hit in the head a few times — if you keep getting hit in the head, you might respond that way. I’m not saying that that was the right thing to do,” Brooks said.

Brooks also said the referees made the right call in ejecting Oubre for the Flagrant 2 foul.

The game continued to get chippy. In the fourth quarter both Terry Rozier and Brandon Jennings were ejected for incurring double-technicals a minute apart.
