Scott Van Pelt had no mercy for Steph Curry

Scott Van Pelt interviews Steph Curry

Stephen Curry has remained loyal to the Carolina Panthers through all of the team’s recent struggles, and Scott Van Pelt knows that can’t be easy.

Curry joined Van Pelt for a brief halftime interview during ESPN’s coverage of the “Monday Night Football” game between the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The two mostly discussed the upcoming NBA season and Curry’s health, but Van Pelt showed Curry no mercy at the end of the chat.

At the conclusion of the interview, Curry snuck in a “go Panthers.” Van Pelt laughed and told the Golden State Warriors star “good luck with that.”

The Panthers are 1-6 following their blowout loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday. They benched former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young earlier in the year. Simply put, things are not going any between in Carolina under new head coach Dave Canales than they were with the team’s previous regime — or the one before that.

Curry grew up in Charlotte and has been linked to potential Panthers ownership in the past. That is something the two-time NBA MVP could still pursue down the road, but for now he is just another fan rooting for a bad team. Just ask Van Pelt.
