Add another team to the potential Kevin Durant Sweepstakes: the San Antonio Spurs.
In a rather surprising revelation, The Vertical’s Chris Mannix divulged that many rival executives believe that San Antonio will explore ways to bring Durant to the Spurs.
We’ve seen a lot of Durant rumors, but this one seems the most far-fetched. The Spurs don’t have a lot of cap room and they already have Kawhi Leonard holding down the small forward spot. The Spurs would be a juggernaut with him on board, but it seems implausible. Durant also wouldn’t be the guy in San Antonio, but it would give him a shot at immediate titles.
Mannix also mentions two teams that have previously been linked to Durant: the Warriors and the Celtics. He could, of course, elect to stay in Oklahoma City, who can exceed the cap to keep him.
