The Golden State Warriors are hoping to have Matt Barnes back in time for the playoffs as the forward recovers from a sprained ankle.

Barnes rolled his ankle on Saturday and left the team’s game, though X-rays were negative. On Monday, head coach Steve Kerr said Barnes would miss the rest of the regular season but they are hoping to have him back for the playoffs.

“He was limping a little bit this morning,” said Kerr. “He’s not going to play the next two games. It’s just a day-to-day thing. It’s not a bad sprain, but it’s significant enough that he’s going to miss the rest of this week. We’ll hopefully get him back for the first round.”

The Warriors signed Barnes after Kevin Durant went down with his knee injury. Now that Durant has returned to action, Barnes is less of a necessity, but they still would like to have him healthy.
