TJ Warren blasts Suns for trading him

TJ Warren was unceremoniously dumped by the Phoenix Suns this summer, and it sounds like that is a chip he will carry on his shoulder for a long time.

In an interview with Shams Charania of The Athletic that ran Friday, the 26-year-old forward ripped the Suns for trading him to the Indiana Pacers for mere cash considerations.

“I’m ready to show the whole NBA, and not just the Suns for making the wrong decision, that the Pacers made the right decision,” said Warren. “I’m worth more than cash considerations. It’s on me to prove it. But the Suns messed up.”

Warren, who averaged 18.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season, was drafted in the first round by Phoenix in 2014 and had spent his entire NBA career with them before being dealt in June. The former NC State star went to Indiana along with the No. 32 overall pick in this year’s draft, and all the Suns indeed got in return was money.

Granted, Warren is far from the only player to leave Phoenix on bitter terms, and it makes you wonder if there are deeper issues with the organization.
